Dalby Forest Visitor Centre
Dalby Forest Visitor Centre, near Low Dalby, picked up the sustainability award at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Pro Yorkshire Awards. The centre came out top because of the building's green design - which had minimum impact on the valley - and also its commitment to the environment.
A spokesperson for the centre, which opened in April, said she was delighted the centre had been voted the winner.
She said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to bits. It's such a wonderful building with marvellous facilities and we're really proud to receive this award. "We've got a fantastic exhibition centre with a special green theme and we're also the main information point for Dalby Forest.”
Jennifer Welch, of the RICS, said: "The awards attracted a record number of entries and the judges had a tough time deciding on the winners. "The final results reflect our criteria that the developments should make a contribution to the wider environment and community in our region."
