Ben Harries
Ben joined White Design as an architectural assistant in July 2006 and is currently studying Architecture and Planning at the University of the West of England. Having previously graduated with a degree in science and communication, he believes that many fields of scientific research hold valuable answers in our search for truly sustainable architecture.
Although he has many areas of interest, Ben’s current research is focussed on the potential of Biomimicry as a tool for low-energy sustainable design. His research leads him to believe that the close study of biological processes, materials and naturally efficient structures could have great architectural and environmental merit.
Ben has been involved in several projects within the office, most recently Dartington Primary and Nursery School Where he is closely involved in the design process and the implementation of consultation exercises. He also designed and built an interactive consultation web-site for the project in order to keep the community constantly updated, whilst gathering their views and opinions in monitored ‘live forums’.
