Fiona Franklin
Fiona joined White Design in 2006 as a Project Consultant. She graduated from the School of Engineering at Cardiff University in 2004 and is working towards her Chartered Engineer status with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). Prior to joining White Design she was an Environmental Officer at Jersey Airport working on policy development and as a mechanical engineer on HM submarines. She brings with her a varied skill set that will help to develop the White Design consultancy business.
Fiona is currently involved with a variety of consultancy projects including: British Schools for the Future (BSF) - a government investment programme to improve school buildings for over 50 years, with an aim to rebuild or renew every secondary school in England over a 10-15 year period; Project Faraday - a government initiative that aims to support excellence, interactive science teaching and learning by developing inspirational exemplar designs for science provision; and Hengrove Leisure Park - a regeneration project to redevelop a large former airfield in south Bristol for a mix of uses, including a new community hospital and leisure centre alongside a large park.
Fiona developed a keen interest in community work whilst based in Plymouth and worked with the Princes Trust as a Development Coach, contributing valuable experience to a team of adults aged 16-35. This experience helped improve her knowledge of social issues, the significant impacts of support projects and reward of community based learning. This and similar projects have helped to shape her outlook and together with her particular interest in sustainable living, she integrates this approach into her work.
