The proposal for the Camper & Nicholsons Capitanerie establishes a landmark building on the reclaimed land of Gosport Marina.  The building responds to nautical influences in a radical and exciting way.  The design does not re-hash clichéd yacht and sail forms; instead it takes its primary influence from nautical buoys, the unsung heroes of nautical safety.

In this case, the buoy is interpreted as a refuge after a hard day’s sailing.  Overall, “the Buoy” delivers a dramatic interpretation of the client’s brief, encompassing the spirit, experiences and practical needs of the yachting fraternity. Our proposal was shortlisted and subsequently placed first.
