Matt Harrison

Matt has been a Project Architect at White Design since early 2004 is currently leading a number of schemes within the practice, including the project management of the Sustainable Design Code for a 900-home mixed-use development at Ely Bridge, Cardiff, for the Welsh Development Agency.

The guidance document was developed through a thorough market testing exercise involving national developers and major stakeholders including the WWF, Carbon Trust, BRE and Wrap.

Contrasting in size, another of Matt’s current projects was the development of a fully straw bale-insulated Eco Office for Torfaen Borough Council, completed in 2006.

Graduating from the University of Westminster in1998, Matt further developed his own

education and interest through an MA. The study aimed to emphasise and support the importance of “place” by referencing and comparing purely functionally effective environments with a perceived autistic experience. This work underlines and influences his approach to all architectural projects.

Prior to joining White Design, Matt gained experience at HTA Architects in London. His previous projects include the formation of the Norfolk Park Masterplan and documentation, adopted by Sheffield City Council as Supplementary Planning Guidance and the design and construction of the Kindersley Centre in Berkshire. The Centre provides conference facilities to promote the practices of organic farming and the building incorporates a range of renewable energy techniques.
