Scott Hills
Scott Hills joined White Design in 2005 and has since been involved in a number of projects, including a new- build Sure Start Community Centre in Manchester utilising a timber frame / timber clad construction; and the refurbishment of an 18th century train shed into a sustainable organic food hall on Bristol harbourside.
Most recently designs for a straw bale clad Media Centre in Bristol’s Knowle West area have been developed. This scheme has been a progression from experience gained on the York Eco Depot where a similar ‘super-insulated’ straw bale construction method was used.
At the Royal College of Art in London Scott designed a zero waste purification plant-come-public parkland in Accra, Ghana for his thesis project, and received a distinction for his dissertation ‘The Melody of the City’ exploring the notion of sound in identifying a city. Scott has exhibited his degree work in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London; his thesis project at the Royal Commonwealth Society in London and at the Vivacity: Sustainable City Symposium exhibition in Accra, Ghana.
Prior to joining White Design Scott gained diverse experience working in a range of architectural practices on projects including small domestic-scale extensions and refurbishments in North London; large commercial offices and retail developments as part of the Deputy Prime Ministers Barking masterplan; a Green Award winning inner-city housing scheme in Whitechapel, London; and a mixed-use retail and housing development in Chelsea, London. More recently Scott was involved in a bespoke healthcare unit for the Bristol Royal Infirmary and completed designs for a Grade 2* Listed farm stable conversion into a timber framed Orangery in Devon.
