The Anglican Diocese of Liverpool and the Roman Catholic are co-sponsors of the project to create the Liverpool Kensington Academy. Part of the Government's Academies programme, Cambridge Education Associates (CEA) are acting as Project Advisors. The Academy will have a soundly based Christian ethos and its educational specialism will be the environment, the first Academy in the country to do this.

As part of the early project work, the need for specialist consultants to integrate the fields of education, sustainable development, building and landscape design across curriculum development and school operation was identified.

White Design is working in association with CEA, Fira Landscape and Liverpool Hope University to advise on the development of a strategic framework for the academy curriculum that engenders respect for the environment and an understanding of our place in it as caring human beings; and how to integrate teaching and learning opportunities that promote awareness of sustainable development within all aspects of the academy's design, construction, operation and maintenance and its place in the local community. Recommendations from the work have been incorporated into designs by Percy Thomas Partnership and the Academy's Implementation Plan.
