The brief for this private house in Germany required the scheme to occupy the footprint of an existing house and the retention of all the major trees on site.
The design also had to include an art gallery, library and archive facilities, for the client’s needs as a publisher and art collector. This constraining brief, instead of limiting the design, has resulted in inventive, yet simple and elegant solutions.
The solar wing houses Photo Voltaic and Solar Hot water panels that contribute towards reducing the buildings carbon foot print.
